Filling the evaporator with metal rod

1.The overveiw of the evaporator

Usually, the evaporator comes with a molybdenum crucible inside. You can replace the crucible by rod-like materials.

2.Removing the molybdenum crucible

You need to dismount from this CF16 flange and pull out the body. You should be careful about the filament.Tips:It would be much easier if you have a short head allen key for this flange.

3.Mounting the rod

The metal rod was fixed by two screws at the head of the evaporator.The diameter of the rod could be 2mm~3mm. If it was too thin, you can cover it by some tantalum foils. You can also polish it to a suitable size if it was too thick.

4.Determining the length of the rod

The top of the rod should not exceed the filament when the Z-driver was retracted， or it is hard to evaporate the materials. The position of the filament is showed as follows.(You don’t need to take out the filament unless your filament is broken)

For example, the following cobalt rod is Φ3mm and polished a little bit to fix the hole. The rod is too long(3.5cm) for the position of the filament. Typically, the length of rod could be 2cm or shorter because you can approach it by z-driver at the bottom of the CF16 flange.
